Broadway League’s New IBDB App for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch Links Theatergoers with Centuries of Theater

Internet Broadway Database From Aristophanes to Ziegfeld

The Broadway League has just launched its IBDB app for iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch based on the League’s popular Internet Broadway Database website www.ibdb.com

IBDB provides a comprehensive database of shows produced on Broadway over the last three centuries, including all “title page” information about each production. IBDB also offers historical information about theatres and various statistics and fun facts related to Broadway.

The app is IBDB on-the-go for iOS devices including iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. The app contains most of the features found on IBDB.com, such as advanced searches and photos and video for current shows. To download, search IBDB at the iTunes stores. The app is free.

IBDB was created by the Research Department of The Broadway League, the national trade association for Broadway. The League has collected relevant Broadway information and statistics for many years. In 1996, the Research Department began to organize and expand the League’s data collection in order to produce a website that would serve as an official, comprehensive history of Broadway for the benefit of League members, press, theatre professionals and enthusiasts. IBDB was developed in part with a generous grant from a joint fund administered by Theatre Development Fund and The Broadway League. IBDB is also supported by public funds from the State of New York.

“IBDB is the official industry database that preserves the accuracy of our historical archival information,” commented Charlotte St. Martin, Executive Director of The Broadway League. “We manage it, update it, and now we continue to modernize it with the app, videos, photos, and more. We’re thrilled to add it to our other recent new apps and internet chat components.”

The new IBDB app complements the Broadway League’s other online services:

The ILoveNYTheater app where consumers can purchase tickets at all price points to every current and upcoming show, direct from the theatres’ official ticketing offices in real time without broker markups. TheILoveNYTheater app also provides up-to-date show and theatre information including theatre locations and show running times, a performance schedule for the current week, a guide to hotel and dining options in Manhattan’s Theatre District, social media connections, news from The Broadway Fan Club, and more. The free app is available at the iTunes store by searching “Broadway” under apps to find and download ILoveNYTheater.

Both the IBDB app and the ILoveNYTheater app have corresponding mobile sites accessible on the browser of any smart phone, giving theatregoers an important in-hand tool when visiting the Theatre District.

The Broadway Concierge & Ticket Center® offers customer assistance with show ticket representatives via anonline chat component. Local and out-of-town theatregoers can visit ILoveNYTheater.com on their PC to chat with a BC&TC representative and get info about shows, theatres, performance times and more, before purchasing their tickets on line or in person at the Times Square Visitor Center on Seventh avenue between 46th & 47th streets.

THE BROADWAY LEAGUE, founded in 1930, is the national trade association for the Broadway industry. The League’s 700-plus members include theatre owners and operators, producers, presenters, and general managers in over 200 North American cities, as well as suppliers of goods and services to the theatre industry. Each year, League members bring Broadway to nearly 30 million people in New York and on tour across the U.S. and Canada. Visit BroadwayLeague.com for more information.
