Leading luxury vacation website also offers Mystery Trip Auctions
Luxury Link (www.luxurylink.com), a leading luxury vacation website, unveils a newly designed website accompanied by an alternative browsing function, the “Inspire Me” button. The restyled website features more than 250 new luxury hotels and resorts with enhanced functionality, clean aesthetics and additional photography. The site also includes an improved luxury travel community, the “Luxury Lounge” to support travelers planning for and sharing memories of their luxury vacations.
For years, travelers have turned to Luxury Link to find inspiration and research properties at amazing destinations. The new “Inspire Me” feature captures the essence of that inspiration by highlighting the world’s top-rated hotels and resorts at destinations a traveler may have never before considered. It is a browsing option for travelers who are looking for ideas and guidance while dreaming about where they might travel to next. The “Inspire Me” function provides recommendations by Luxury Link’s travel experts for thousands of world-class properties at destinations ranging from Montana to the Maldives and Boston to Bali.
“For the past 15 years, inspiring travelers with amazing hotels and incredible prices has been the mission of Luxury Link,” said Luxury Link President, Diane McDavitt. “The new design and functional upgrades to our website embody a true luxury travel experience – from our hand-picked collection of hotels, resorts, villas and cruises to the luxury extras we include in each vacation. Each step of the way, we are committed to travelers getting more for their money while enjoying a truly extraordinary experience from start to finish.”
Luxury Link has added new functionality to its online community forum, the largest and most active community of luxury travelers on the web. The “Luxury Lounge” is a forum where travelers can discuss everything from destinations to hotels while sharing ideas, opinions and answering questions. The Luxury Lounge features enhanced forum functionality and social sharing capabilities. Travelers can keep a running travelogue of their adventures and escapes through personal blogs and photo galleries.
Mystery Trip Auction
Luxury Link also offers a mystery auction, where you bid what you like for a trip. Here’s how it works:
- Each week Luxury Link offers Mystery Auctions that last 7 days.
- Travelers bid on a “mystery” package, meaning the exact hotel name, location and inclusions remain a secret.
- All of the Mystery Auction hotels meet Luxury Link’s high standards.
- Bidding starts at just $1, and incremental bids are also just $1.
- The name of the hotel is only revealed to the winning bidder.
- Hints on the mystery location are provided in Luxury Link’s Community and on Facebook.
The auctions are not for specific departure days – instead, customers pick their travel date range.
For example, in this week’s <>a href=”http://www.luxurylink.com/last-minute-travel-deals/mystery-offer” target=”blank”>USA Rocky Mountains auction, bidders can choose to travel between Jan. 1 – Feb. 12, 2012. Once the auction’s winner is chosen, the winner can contact the hotel directly to make sure their desired travel date is available.
It is hard to quantify the average discounts of the mystery auctions because the savings varies from vacation to vacation and each mystery auction outcome is so different. But as an example, a recent auction on Luxury Link featured a three-night Italian getaway in Fiano to a stunning five-star resort – the auction winner paid just $36 – a savings of thousands of dollars off the actual cost.
For closer destinations, the demand is higher and masses more bids. For example, last week’s mystery auction was for a property in Sicily, Italy for two nights, breakfast daily, bottle of wine and butler service included – the auction was won for $202.
Currently, for this week’s mystery auction in the Rocky Mountains, Luxury Link (for all mystery auctions) posts the regular package price, $4,302. The package for eight includes four nights in a private home, winter welcome basket upon arrival, $1,000 resort credit, $700 spa credit, shuttle service to ski resort areas and all taxes – which started at $1 and as of 10:30am PST, is auctioning for $1,006 which, at presstime, had 20 current bids.
Each property available on Luxury Link is hand-picked by our travel experts – making sure each hotel and resort meet the five-star requirements.
Mystery auctions provide a vehicle for hotels, airlines and online travel agencies to sell excess capacity in an opaque bundle that brings back the element of surprise to the travel experience. Millennials aged 20 to 34 are the main target of these trips, for whom luxury operators review customer profiles and customize mystery experiences for them.
