A July 2026 report on luxury travel found that Da Nang, Vietnam, offers the best value for a high‐end summer getaway. A new study by the digital entertainment platform JB.com analyzed hotel rates, dining costs, spa availability, luxury experiences, and safety across 20 destinations to find where travelers get the most luxury for their money.
-
Da Nang is the most underrated luxury destination, offering a five‐star hotel for under $100 per night and upscale experiences averaging $51.
-
Fine dining is the most affordable in Hoi An at just $17 for two, paired with the cheapest hotel rate at $84 per night.
-
Marrakech offers the most first-class experiences, with 371 options and an average price of $66.
The study looked at hotel rates, dining costs, drink prices, and taxi fares to measure affordability, while also counting how many wellness centers and luxury experiences were available. The average price of those luxury stays and outings was included as well. Beyond cost and access, the study also brought in safety and summer temperatures as part of its quality‐of‐life check, with the highest marks going to places where temperatures stayed closest to 24-29°C.

1. Da Nang, Vietnam

Fine Dining Cost for 2 (without drinks): $17.93

Median Luxury Experience Price: $51
Da Nang is the best destination for travelers who want luxury without the usual price tag. A five‐star hotel for two costs just $89 per night, and a fine dining experience runs about $18. The city has 702 spas and wellness centers and 205 luxury experiences like night cruises, sunset tours, fireworks viewings, and more, with the average experience priced at $51. Summer temperatures average 34°C, warm but manageable for beach days.
2. Hoi An, Vietnam
Hoi An ranks second with an even lower hotel rate at $84 and upscale dining at $17 for two. The destination is safer than Da Nang (with an index of 84), and high-end experiences average $41, the lowest in the top five. And with 540 wellness retreats, there is no shortage of places to unwind. Hoi An offers the same value as Da Nang with slightly better safety and more affordable activities, making it a close competitor for the top spot.
3. Marrakech, Morocco
Marrakech takes third place with 371 white-glove activities, the most in the top five, and an average price of $56. These include private hammam spa rituals, hot air balloon flights over the Atlas Mountains, and guided tours through the medina’s hidden riads. A night of five‐star luxury for two is a bit more costly at $280, while a gourmet dinner adds just $32. Summer temperatures average 37°C, which is hot but acceptable for travelers who plan their days around the heat. Marrakech offers more luxury options than any other city in the top five, but the higher hotel rates keep it from climbing higher.
4. Zanzibar, Tanzania
Zanzibar ranks fourth with 286 luxury experiences and a typical price of $66. A world-class hotel costs $360, and a top-tier dinner runs $22, the second lowest in the top five. Travelers can book premium activities like private spice farm tours, sunset dhow cruises and snorkeling trips to the Mnemba Atoll. Zanzibar offers beachfront luxury at a fraction of what similar destinations charge, making it an excellent choice for travelers who want high-end value in a unique setting.
5. Nairobi, Kenya
Nairobi rounds out the top five with 114 VIP activities at the standard price of $120, the highest in the top five. A five‐star overnight costs $200, and dining in an upscale restaurant adds $35. With summer temperatures around 26°C, the most comfortable among the top five, Nairobi offers a cooler climate, memorable safari experiences and an exceptionally vibrant culinary scene.
“The best luxury deals live in places most travelers overlook,” a travel analyst from JB.com commented. “They are in destinations where the exchange rate works in your favor, and the local standard of living means five‐star service costs a fraction of what it does elsewhere. A traveler can spend $400 a night on a mediocre hotel in a popular city or $90 a night on a beachfront suite with a spa and private pool in a less obvious spot. The difference is knowing where to look. The smartest travelers skip the famous names and head straight for the places where their money still buys something special.”
